ATHOL — Ten athletes from the Athol High School varsity indoor track & field team have been named league all-stars of the Valley South League.
Each league is allowed no more than 18 all-stars and coaches within the league vote on each recipient.
On the boys’ side, MIAA All-State shot put champion Kris Selanis was one of six selected.
Selanis won every PVIAC meet during the regular season and followed that up with a PVIAC title. He finished second in the state Division V meet, but came back to capture the All-State crown, which included athletes from every division in the state. Selanis went on to finish second at the New England meet, and then placed sixth at the National meet in New York City.
Mason Barrieau was also named an all-star after a strong season that saw him make the All-State meet in the 600 where he finished 14th. Barrieau also competed in the 4 x 200 at the All-State meet along with teammates James Laford, Gabe Roberts and Chase Michaud, and all three joined Barrieau and Selanis as all-star selections. Distance runner Dennis St. Jean was also selected.
On the girls’ side, Grace Dufour, Emily England, Crista Jillson and Shelby Mailloux were each selected.
