ATHOL — Five Athol High School athletes were named all-league in their respective sport. Senior Destiny Wrigley earned all-league status in the Franklin North for the varsity girls basketball team, while sophomores Bryce King and Mark Ferrari earned all-league out of the Hampshire North for the varsity boys basketball team.

Sophomore Jon Mahony and junior Chris Waslaske were tabbed all-league in the Tri-County for the boys wrestling team.

Wrigley led her team with 223 points and averaged 11.7 points per game. She scored 20 or more points four times and 10 or more points 11 times. She averaged 2.7 3-pointer per game over the final 10 games.

King missed time during January, but scored 82 points and averaged 5.5 points per game. After the team’s season opener against Lee, King had three straight games where he scored at least 10 points. He also averaged two 3-pointers per game during December.

Ferrari was the team’s breakout player this year. After scoring only 50 points as a freshman, he led the team with 218 points and averaged 10.9 points per game. He scored at least 10 points in a game 11 times and averaged 1.4 3-pointers per game. Ferrari had multiple double-doubles and showed he could compete against some of the toughest opponents in western Massachusetts, scoring 21 points against Hopkins Academy, 19 points against Narragansett Regional, 17 points against Greenfield and 14 points against Belchertown.

Mahony finished 6-0 in wrestling matches for Athol and earned one pin competing out of the 106-pound weight class. Waslaske finished 5-1 at 182 pounds.
