MONTAGUE — The Turners Falls varsity baseball team collected 10 hits to defeat the Athol Red Raiders, 7-5, Thursday afternoon in the season opener for both teams.
Ryan Campbell led the Indians with three hits, including a double, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Joey Lehtomaki went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs for the Red Raiders. Robbie Nelson went 2-for-4.
Nicholas Bousquet pitched 1⅓ innings for the Red Raiders, allowing four runs on two hits and six walks, while striking out one. Anthony Oro pitched the remaining 4⅔ innings for the Red Raiders, giving up three runs on eight hits and three walks, while striking out five.
The Red Raiders will be at home on Monday against Franklin County Tech.
