ORANGE — The Mahar Senators scored 15 runs in the final four innings, including five runs in the fifth and six runs in the seventh, to defeat High School of Commerce, 15-5, Thursday afternoon in the opening day baseball game for the two teams.
Sam Paul pitched six innings for the Senators, allowing five runs, two earned, on three hits and five walks, while striking out 10. Logan Dodge led the way offensively for Mahar, going 2-4 at the plate with one run, one walk, one triple and five RBI.
Charlie Barnes, Jacob Berry and Will Peredina scored three runs apiece for the Senators, while Barnes also pitched a clean seventh inning, striking out two batters in the process.
Joey Brozell walked twice and scored two runs for the Senators. Todd Chiasson walked three times and scored once.
The Senators will play their home opener on Tuesday against Frontier Regional School.
