SHELBURNE FALLS — The Mohawk Trail Regional track team got the best of Athol, Tuesday.

The Warriors won the boys meet, 86-49, and the girls meet, 129-16. It was the opening meet for Athol.

The Red Raiders had seven first-place finishes, 11 second-place finishes and seven third-places finishes in the boys meet.

Mason Barrieau was a triple-winner for Athol. He finished first in the long jump with a mark of 10 feet, 5¼ inches, first in the triple jump with a leap of 36-8½ and first in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.5 seconds. Chris Waslaske finished first in the shot put with a throw of 35-6. Dennis St. Jean finished first in the mile with a time of 5:17.

On the girls side, Crista Jillson earned first place for the Red Raiders in the 400 with a time of 69.8.

Taylor Cleveland’s third place finish in the discus (57-1) came in her first track meet. Mercedez Young was third in the 2-mile with a time of 14:56. Grace Dufour came in third in the triple jump (27-3). Emily England was second in the 100 with a time of 14.8. She also came in third in the 200 with a time of 30.7. Shelby Mailloux was third in the 800 in 3:04.7. Senior Payton Parker competed in the 400 hurdles for the first time and placed third.
