NEW SALEM — A trailer carrying two horses disconnected from a truck on Fay Road in New Salem around 10 a.m. on Thursday. The horses were not injured.
Orange Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene. At the time, there were no New Salem officers on duty. The Massachusetts State Police were called in to assist with the incident.
Trooper Mark Whitcomb said there were no reported injuries to the driver.
“They were just coming up here, and for some reason (the trailer) disconnected from the truck. We are still working on trying to figure out why,” said Whitcomb.
The horses were taken off the disconnected trailer and transported to a separate trailer nearby. Whitcomb said he was unaware of where the trailer was headed before the incident occurred.
