MONTAGUE — One day after losing to the Turners Falls Indians in a mercy-rule shortened game, the Mahar varsity softball team bounced back in a big way.
Despite losing 8-0, Mahar coach Jerry Duguay described the team’s performance as “a major improvement” and “a huge, great effort.”
The Senators (7-8) were shut out 26-0 by the Indians on Wednesday.
“I couldn’t be more proud of these kids,” Duguay said. “They fought really hard and came to play. They were ready before the bus even took off and were swinging well when we got there.”
Megan Rich battle back and held the Indians to eight runs after Wednesday’s performance.
Jordyn Berry and Skylar Dodge each had one hit in the game.
