Athol boys volleyball wins in four against West Springfield

ATHOL — Friday night could have been the last time the seven seniors on the Athol boys volleyball team took to the court inside Athol High School. The team made the best of it, defeating West Springfield, 3-1, in their regular-season finale

Athol won 25-20, 20-25, 25-10, 26-24.

The Red Raiders finished the regular season with a 14-6 record. The team will now await its seeding in the Western Massachusetts Division 1 Tournament.

“It’s likely that tonight was the last home game for the seven seniors,” Athol coach Sean MacDonald said.

Justin Blake had 19 kills for Athol. Colby Mason, Colby Soltysik and Jordan Carrasquillo had eight each. Hudson Carlson had three kills while Nick Casella had two. Solytsik had 41 assists. Carlson added four aces.
