ATHOL — “Tarot: An Introduction to Tarot Card Reading” workshop with Sally Cragin will be at Athol Public Library, 568 Main St., on June 6 at 6 p.m.

The workshop will cover the history of the cards, the meaning of the suits (pentacles, swords, wands and cups), and the Major Arcana cards. Cragin uses the Ryder-Waite deck and talks about the Renaissance-era origins of the cards.

This is a “hands-on” workshop. Everyone will get to practice their reading skills. For this portion of the workshop, there will be a three-card reading of past, present and future. The workshop length is roughly an hour and a half.

Cragin teaches history and writing at Fitchburg State University. She is also the author of “Astrological Elements” and “Astrology on the Cusp.”

The workshop is free and open to the public. Call the library at 978-249-9515 to sign up. Due to the popularity of programs, registration is required. The program is limited to 35 participants.
