PETERSHAM — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday (5-31-18) at Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol for William C. “Bill” Byrne Jr., 72, of Popple Camp Road, who died May 13, 2018.

Fr. Carlos Ruiz and Fr. Charles Byrne officiated. Jane Lachance was the alter server, Janet Paoletti was the organist and Liz Hume was the cantor. The pall was placed on the casket by the bearers, Charles Byrne, Shawn Byrne, Brian Byrne, Perry Kishida, Earl Kishida, and Christian Kishida. The Old Testament reading was by Charles Byrne and the New Testament reading was by Terry Byrne. Sharon Byrne gave the eulogy and the gifts were brought forward by the grandchildren.

Military honors were provided by the United States Army Honor Guard which played “Taps” and presented the American flag to Bill’s grandsons.

A reception was held at Hartman’s Herb Farm in Barre.

Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, directed the arrangements.
