The Dance Studio of Orange will present its annual dance recital “Sleeping Beauty” and “Hit the Road Jack” on Friday and Saturday at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Gill.

Act 1: The classical ballet, “Sleeping Beauty,” begins with the christening of Princess Aurora. All of the fairies have been invited to bestow gifts on the young princess. The Carabosse is not invited and she is outraged. She curses the princess, saying that she will prick her finger and die. The Lilac Fairy has yet to bestow her gift, so she changes the curse by promising that Princess Aurora will fall into a deep sleep that only true love’s kiss can end. Featuring Forest Dryads, a wedding, legions of dancers and the music of Tchaikovsky. The main roles are: Princess Aurora, Marley Aldrich; Lilac Fairy, Caitlyn Wyman; Carabosse, Angie Price; the prince, Hudson Carlson; the Fairy of Beauty, Lauren Henne; the Fairy of Joy, Lilly Fellows; the Fairy of Generosity, Ceara Zhang; the Fairy of Musicality, Saydie True; the Fairy of Temperment, Alexandra Fraser; and the Fairy of Grace, Gracie Marsh.

Act 2: Join us for a road trip around the United States in “Hit The Road Jack.”  Modern, hip hop, tap, jazz and acro dances take us on a journey through New York City, N.Y., San Francisco, Calif., Miami, Fla., Chicago, Ill., Route 66 and more.

Performances are Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Chiles Theater in the Rhodes Arts Center at The Northfield Mount Hermon School, 19 Purple Road in Gill. Tickets are $18.
