ATHOL — The Athol Soccer Club 9-post grad team fell short in the 2018 Tournament of Champions, losing all three of its matches, failing to make it out of group play. The tournament was held June 22 through June 24.

Athol Soccer Club represented Nashoba Valley in the Tournament of Champions after defeating Chair City Soccer to take home the Nashoba Valley Cup.

In its first matchup, the Athol Soccer Club lost to South Shore champion, Brockton, 7-0, held on June 22. The next day, Athol Soccer Club faced Midland Area Youth Soccer (MAYS) champion, Worcester, and lost 5-0. The team then faced Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) champion Needham later in the day and lost 6-0.

Worcester won the tournament, defeating Needham 4-0.

Athol competed in Group A, which consisted of Needham, Worcester, Brockton and Athol. South Coast Champion Dartmouth, Coastal Champion Pembroke, Pioneer Valley Champion Celtic United FC and Middlesex Champion Woburn created Group B.
