PETERSHAM — Residents and visitors to town will line the streets of downtown for the annual Independence Day celebration this morning.
The parade lines up around 9:30 a.m., said organizer Fredrik Marsh, and will kick off at 10 a.m. The Color Guard wil lead, followed by this year’s Grand Marshall Richard Cooley.
Military vehicles, horses, motorcycles and fire trucks will all also participate. Several floats plan to follow after the horses, with an award for the best float up for grabs. Marsh said the Petersham Grange 95 won “Best Float” last year for including a goat.
According to Marsh, the parade starts at the intersection of the library and West Street.
“(The parade) is fun; everyone gets together. It is a good time for all,” said Marsh.
The National Weather Service forecasts another hot day for Wednesday with a high of about 92 degrees. It is suggested that people use sunscreen and bring water to drink.
