NEW SALEM – The 1794 Meetinghouse presents The Green Sisters on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Hubbardston natives Beck, Bets, Brie and Mel offer up a foot-stomping eclectic mix of folk, Celtic, bluegrass, old-time, Cajun, a cappella and barbershop music.
Sprouting from a small farm in rural Massachusetts, The Green Sisters have said they’ve had a deep love of music from birth. They’ve been playing venues in Massachusetts and New Hampshire regularly for three years, and have garnered a following. The four get together to play as often as they can. They said they revel in each other’s company, and they jump easily from bluegrass to barbershop to blues to Celtic to originals of all styles. “Endless Blue,” The Green Sisters CD, is now available. The recording includes eight originals and one cover, and it was recorded in Ashfield.
Performers are:
Melody (Mel) Green on vocals, mandolin, guitar, bass; Betsy (Bets) Heron on vocals, fiddle, banjo; Brianna (Brie) Green on vocals, bass, fiddle, guitar, Rebecca (Beck) Mitus on vocals, guitar, mandolin, bass, fiddle.
Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for age 13 to 17; and free for ages up to 12. They are available at Brown Paper Tickets at: www.brownpapertickets.com, the New Salem General Store and at the door.
