ATHOL — The Tool Town Live 2018 concert series continues Saturday at the Uptown Common, near 1500 Main St. in Athol.
The show will feature the The Hot Mess Trio, led by Brian Chaffee. The concert is from 7 to 9 p.m., and free for all ages.
Recording artist Brian Chaffee has performed in the growing north-central Massachusetts music scene since the late 1990s. He has achieved success as leader of bands such as Krakow, Moon Patrol, and The Franks, as well as his work as a solo artist.
“Brian Chaffee is breathing new musical life into a region of the northeastern U.S. that needs it so badly,” writes critic Jack Dickson. “The guy blows my mind! He can turn a crowd of silent monks into dance machines then swoon the ladies with a pretty love song … the guy goes from a thick reggae groove to a funky jam to rocking your world … he sounds a bit like Sting, but better! If you haven’t experienced his show, get some Chaffee in your life, mate! Ya gotta have it!”
Known for his exceptionally high singing range, dynamic stage presence, eclectic songwriting style and hypnotizing multi-instrumental capabilities, Brian has shared the stage with the likes of The Allman Brothers Band, Gretchen Wilson, the North Mississippi Allstars, Primus, Puya, System of a Down, Ryan Montbleau, Strangefolk, Max Creek, Entrain and many more. The Hot Mess Trio also features AJ Sausville on drums and Mike Kelly on bass. Hot Mess performs Brian Chaffee originals, as well as the music of Lionel Richie, Al Greene, Stevie Wonder, Radiohead, The Police, and more.
If there is a chance of rain in the forecast, the concert will be held in Memorial Hall at 584 Main St. in Athol. Refreshments including hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks, dessert bars and more will be on sale at the event. Scotty’s Potties provides facilities for Tool Town Live concerts.
