1925 – 2018
Leonard “Lenny” Joseph Geddis, 93, of Agawam passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
He was born in Athol, MA on March 31, 1925 to the late Joseph Leonard Geddis and Katherine (Wade) Geddis. He graduated from Athol High School in 1943, and after serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII, received his degree in electronics from DeVry University in Chicago in 1951. He worked in TV service and repair for many years, and also was employed at Standard Electric Time, Chicopee, Hi-G Inc in Windsor Locks, HBA Cast Products and Digital Equipment both in Springfield. Lenny retired in 1990 after 14 years with Wel-Design Alarm Systems in Wilbraham.
He was a member of the Agawam Sr. Center and a founding member of the Snow Riders Club of Agawam, and an avid vegetable gardener, fisherman, boater, and camper.
In addition to his parents, Lenny was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Rita (Duval) Geddis in 2003; his grandson, Jason Kie in 1986; and his brothers Francis, Lloyd and Raymond Geddis and sister, Ruth McNeil. He leaves his 3 daughters, Jean Kie and husband Bruce of League City, TX, Carol Poliwczak and husband John, and Linda Mercier and husband Steve both of Agawam; 4 grandchildren, Ken Kie and wife Jennifer, Jeff Kie, Kristin Colburn and husband Chris, and Angela Paxson-Mercier and wife Erica; 4 great-grandchildren, Mikaela Kie, Aubrey Colburn, Amanda and Kevin Paxson.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 26th from 4-8PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam. Lenny’s service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, August 27th at 9:30AM followed by a procession to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam for Military Honors at 11AM.
