Ashley Rouleau scored a second-half goal for the Athol field hockey team in a 2-1 home loss to Murdock on Tuesday night.
Rouleau’s goal, assisted by Christa Cucchi, came with 16 minutes, 34 second left in the game. Athol defender Catherine Martin saved a potential goal moments later, knocking away a ball near the goal line to keep the score 2-1.
Athol (0-1) had two penalty corners with less than a minute to play but could not capitalize.
Riley Pond was active in net for the Red Raiders, making 13 saves.
Hopkins Academy 15, Mahar 5 — The Senators, playing at Hickory Ridge Country Club in Amherst, got a win and a medalist performance from Tucker Ninteau in the team loss.
Ninteau shot a 50, and beat Hopkins’ Alvin Lee 4-0.
Hopkins swept the other five matches.
