Last Saturday at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire, Greenfield’s Ben Byrne sped his way to a second win on the season in the Sportsman Modified division.
Byrne battled for the lead after a second lap caution with Eric LeClair, but Byrne made the pass to take the lead. By lap 30 Byrne was firmly in control and took home the checkered flag. Kim Riven and Joel Monahan placed second and third, respectively.
Repeat winners in the weekly divisions also included Solomon Brow (Super Stocks), Matt Kimball (Mini Stocks), Gordon Farnum (Lightning Stocks) and Chris Phelps (Young Guns). Chase Curtis took down his first career victory in the Thunder Stocks. Jim Chamber took the win for NEMA as did Seth Carlson in the NEMA Lites.
The final race event of the season will be held this Saturday. The Dash for the Championship event will include all the weekly divisions plus the Iron Mike Memorial race for NEMA and NEMA Lites along with Spectator Races and Big Wheel Races. Race time is at 2 p.m.
On the final lap of the Young Guns division last weekend, it was Phelps followed by Sammy Silva and Jake Puchalski.
Kimball won the 25-lap Mini Stock feature, winning after starting in the eighth spot. Brow won the Super Stocks by a large margin.
Curtis won the Thunder Stocks, and there was a disqualification after the race. Ben Williams had placed second but refused an inspection post-race leading to Richard Vincent placing second.
Farnum took advantage of lap traffic on his way to a win in the Lightning Stocks.
