Delaney Parker scored twice for the Mahar girls soccer team in a 5-1 win over Hopkins Academy, in Hadley on Wednesday.
The Senators had 28 shots to only seven for the Golden Hawks. Still, Mahar led only 2-0 at halftime.
“It was not the start we wanted,” Mahar coach Chad Softic said. “We were fortunate to be up 2-0 at half. I liked our second half. We were winning every contested ball and our soccer IQ was much better.”
Jazmyn Vautour scored from Jeanne Grutchfield with 20 seconds left in the half for Mahar.
Micalyn Mailloux had a goal and an assist in the second half, with Molley Burke also picking up an assist.
“Micalyn Mailloux had her best game of the season and gave us a spark offensively which we are going to need,” Softic said.
Isabella Zani set up Tori Tenney with 20 minutes left in the game to make it 5-0. Marie Nottleson made two saves for the Senators (4-1, 4-0 Pioneer North).
Athol 6, Hopkins Academy 2 — The Red Raiders used a four-goal second half to get past the Golden Hawks at home.
Bryce King (assist), Parker Deleo and Angel Rivera all scored twice for the Red Raiders (4-1, 2-1 Schmid).
Nick Bousquet and Logan Kirwan had assists.
Casey Mason made seven saves for Athol.
Southwick 2, Mahar 1 — The Senators (3-3, 2-3 Bi County) got a goal from Lilly Fellows, assisted by Anna Wetherbee, but lost at home to the first place Rams.
Emily Martin scored twice for Southwick (5-1, 5-0)
Bella Marigliano made eight saves for Mahar.
Belchertown 3, Athol 0 — The Red Raiders (0-7) were swept at home by the Orioles 25-14, 25-22 and 25-21.
Abby Roberts had four kills and three digs, while Alexis Carrasquillo chipped in with four kills, seven digs and three aces.
Lexi Forte led Athol with seven assists.
Easthampton 3, Mahar 1 — Jordyn Berry had seven kills, but the Senators lost in four games to the Eagles at home.
Aria Flematti had eight assists for the Senators (3-3, 2-0 Northern.
Set scores were 25-19, 25-14, 22-25 and 25-12.
Hampshire 23, Mahar 1 — Tucker Ninteau shot a team best 47 at Ellinwood Country Club in a loss to the Raiders.
Hampshire’s Evan Boyle shot a 46, just getting the best of Ninteau.
Ninteau lost to Boyle 3-1 in the No. 1 match. The next best round for the Senators (0-7) was Andrew Finch, who shot a 65.
