Up for some mystery? The Petersham Memorial Library presents “Sherlock Holmes and Friends” for its annual literary gala Sept. 29.

PETERSHAM — The Petersham Memorial Library is set to host their annual literary gala Saturday, Sept. 29 at the library from 7 to 9 p.m for a evening of mystery and merriment.

Community members can join “Sherlock Holmes and Friends” for mystery games and the play, “Murder at Nichewaug Manor.” Come-as-you-are or dress as your favorite character to help solve a surprising crime by following the mystery clues.

In past years other literary themes for the gala have included Shakespeare and Emily Dickinson and Friends.

There will be refreshments, a display of English-themed food items and a small fundraising auction. Library Director Jayne Arata said some fine art and vintage keepsakes, along with a pastel of a southwestern landscape by Petersham artist Janet Palin will be included in the auction.

Donations are $10 for the evening to attend. All proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the Library Building Improvement Fund.

All are welcome to attend and to help contribute to improvements for the library building. People may call ahead to the library at 978-724-3405 to reserve a spot, or arrive at the door Saturday evening.
