BOSTON — Commander Philip Edward Dould, USN MSC, 80 passed away peacefully on Monday September 24th, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rose P. Dould, both of Middleborough, MA. He is also survived by his sister Corrine Dould Stoelting of California, and a brother, Mr. John Francis and Katherine Dould of Athol, MA. He is also survived by his daughter, Theresa B. Dould Cummings of Dennis MA, and a loving son, Philip Francis Dould of Quincy, MA. He is grandfather to Sarah Alexandria Cummings of Arlington MA, and Samantha Rose DeMagistris of Andover, MA. And two great-grandchildren Amelia Rose DeMagistris and Nicholas Leone DeMagistris both of Andover MA. And a loving son-in-law, Roderick L Cummings of Burlington, MA. There are also two nieces, Susan Bryant and Diane Macie, both of California. And a nephew, Christopher Dould, of NH and many other family members. Cmdr.

Dould was born in Phillipston, MA on January 17, 1938 and graduated from Athol high school in 1955, joining the Navy as a corpsman in 1955. He met and married his loving wife of 62 years, Rose P. Fresina, on September 23, 1956. Cmdr.

Dould and his family spent many years traveling the East Coast. He served in Vietnam with the 3rd engineers Battalion, 3rd Marine division at the DMC and Jai Lai from 1965 — 1966. Cmdr. Dould, while working at the NSHCH in Bethesda, MD earned 2 master’s degrees at The George Washington University. He Retired from the Navy in 1987. He continued to work for the state of MA at the Department of Health and Human Services.

In keeping with the wishes of Cmdr. Dould there will be no funeral services. Cmdr. Dould wished to spend eternity among the seas and his ashes will be scattered over the ocean at a later date —Fair Winds and Following Seas — Pop — Papa — all our love.
