The Athol girls volleyball team won the first set, but Southwick rallied for the 3-1 win in Athol, Tuesday.

Set scores were 17-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 25-23.

Abby Roberts had six kills for the Red Raiders (0-12). Leading Athol in aces was Lexi Forte with five, while Alexis Carrasquillo chipped in with four aces and two kills.

Boys soccer

Easthampton 4, Athol 0 — In a Schmid League matchup against the first-place Eagles, the Red Raiders were shut out at Nonotuck Park in Easthampton.

Easthampton (8-0, 7-0) led 1-0 at halftime on a redirected free kick.

Casey Mason made five saves for Athol (6-4, 4-3).

Mahar 3, Greenfield 0 — Logan Dodge registered the shutout with three saves in a home win for the Senators over the Green Wave.

Riley Drew, James Temple and Miguel Gomez scored for Mahar (7-3, 4-1 McGrath).

Andrew Herk assisted on Gomez’s goal for the Senators.

Boys cross country

Frontier 15, Mahar 50 — The Senators got a sixth-place finish from Thor Mead, who finished Palmer’s 2.67-mile course in 17 minutes, 16 seconds.

Golf

Palmer 18, Mahar 0 — The rain only let the Senators get through six holes in a road loss to the Panthers.

When play stopped Tucker Ninteau had a 36 on the scorecard. The next best abbreviated round came from Cameron Doyle, who shot a 46 for the Senators (0-9).
