The Mahar boys soccer team is going back to the postseason following a 5-0 win over Smith Academy, Tuesday in Orange.

The Senators (8-4-2, 5-2-2 McGrath) will return to the Division 3 Western Massachusetts tournament, where they lost in the first round to Easthampton last year.

Riley Drew scored twice with an assist for the Senators.

Henry Ndayisaba scored with an assist, while Miguel Gomez and Thomas Shortis also scored.

James Temple added two assists, while Charlie Anderson added another for Mahar.

Hopkins Academy 4, Athol 3 — Angel Rivera scored three times for the Red Raiders in a road loss to the Golden Hawks.

Jared Rouleau and Bryce King had assists for Athol (7-6, 5-5 Schmid).

Casey Mason made eight saves.

Girls soccer

Frontier 5, Athol 1 — Shelby Mailloux got the Red Raiders on the scoreboard late in the second half in a home loss to the Red Hawks.

Lily King assisted on the goal.

Frontier led 4-0 at halftime.

Hailey Wrigley made 10 saves for Athol (6-6, 3-5 Pioneer North).

Field Hockey

Athol 1, Franklin Tech 1 — After taking a lead in the first half, the Red Raiders had to settle for a tie at home against the Eagles.

Heather Pilling scored for Athol with Sadey Lehtomaki assisting.

Ryley Pond made six saves for Athol (1-10-2, 1-3-1 Tri County).

Mahar 2, Belchertown 0 — The Senators are a win or a tie away from clinching a playoff berth following their road win.

Anna Wetherbee scored a first-half goal, while Lilly Fellows scored in the second. Both goals came off rebounds.

Bella Marigliano made three saves for Mahar (7-4-1, 2-4-1 Bi County).

Mahar plays at Turners Falls on Wednesday.

Cross Country

Hampshire 15, Hampden Charter 50 — Mahar had to forfeit matches against Hampshire Regional and Hamden Charter School in Orange.

The Senators had runners finish fourth and fifth overall. Thor Meade clocked in at 19 minutes, 10 seconds with Connor Vallaincourt following at 19:30.

Golf

Amherst 24, Mahar 0 — Tucker Ninteau shot a 49 for the Senators (0-13) in a loss at Ellinwood Country Club.

Andrew Finch shot the next best round at the par-35 course with a 62.

Chicopee Comp 13, Mahar 2 — In a match played Monday, the Senators lost at Chicopee Country Club. The match was shortened to six holes due to the weather.

Ninteau had a 33 after six holes.
