The Mahar field hockey team will contend for a Western Massachusetts Division 1 championship.
The Senators tied Turners Falls, 4-4, on Wednesday in Montague, sending them to the postseason.
Mahar had to battle back from a 3-1 deficit against the Thunder to secure the tie.
Two second-half goals by Anna Wetherbee and another by Aileen Fitzgerald brought the Senators back to even.
Lilly Fellows had a goal and an assist for Mahar.
Bella Marigliano and Caroline Chase combined for five saves.
Mahar (8-4-2) lost last season in the Division 2 first round to Mohawk. The Senators will play up a division because they have a boy on the roster.
Monument Mountain 2, Mahar 0 — Logan Dodge and Ethan Williams combined to make eight saves for the Senators in road loss in Great Barrington.
Dodge had to come out of the game due to a shoulder injury for Mahar (8-5-2).
Athol 3, Pioneer Regional 0 — The Red Raiders (3-14) earned their third win of the season, sweeping the Panthers at home.
Set scores were 25-12, 25-21 and 25-10.
Alex Carrasquillo had nine kills and nine aces for Athol, while Lexi Forte added nine assists with five aces.
Mahar 3, Greenfield 0 – Aria Flematti’s 18 assists led the Senators in a home sweep of the Green Wave.
Set scores were 25-20, 25-13 and 25-11.
Ava Santana had six kills, while Jordyn Berry added five for Mahar (11-4, 6-1 Northern).
South Hadley 24, Mahar 0 — The Senators (0-16) lost to the Tigers at Ellinwood Country Club in their final match of the season.
“We accomplished what we wanted, to keep the program going,” Mahar coach Jerry Duguay said. “Everyone will be back next year with a few other people.”
Tucker Ninteau shot a 52 in the final nine holes of his junior season. Jacob Bowers shot a 58 and not far behind was Andrew Finch with a 59 for Mahar.
