ORANGE — Needing just one goal or assist for 100 career points against Hopkins Academy, Delaney Parker did not make the fans at a crowded Woodward field wait that long on Monday night.

The milestone came for Parker when she flicked the ball, with her back to the net, to Mollie Burke in front of the goal early in the first half. Burke finished the play with an accurate shot to the right corner of the net.

“I didn’t feel like I needed to turn,” Parker said. “So I made a little pass to Mollie (Burke) and I am so glad she finished it.”

Parker also started working on future milestones with three goals and three assists in a 6-0 win on Senior Night for the Mahar girls soccer team. The sophomore forward was happy that Burke was on the receiving end of her 100th point.

“If anybody scored off of my assist I was hoping it would be Mollie,” Parker said.

Mahar coach Chad Softic has coached Parker since seventh grade. “It was another dominating offensive performance by Delaney and we’re all thrilled for her accomplishment of scoring 100 points,” Softic said. “I don’t think people understand how hard she has worked to to become the player she is and my favorite thing about her is her grace and humility.”

The Senators honored their senior class at the game.

“They were always so welcoming to me,” Parker said. “I love them. Probably one of my favorite classes.”

The senior class consists of 14 players on Mahar’s roster.

“They are a special group,” Softic said. “I’ve never had a teacher say this senior needs to get their work done or this kid is misbehaving. They are obviously very athletic too. Love to be around them.”

Ally Parker, Delaney Parker’s sister made the trip from Providence to watch her younger sister’s milestone.

“She just said, ‘don’t worry you got this’,” Parker said.

Burke returned the favor moments later, setting up Parker.

Marie Nottleson had to make a diving save just before halftime to keep it 2-0 going into the break.

Nottleson made six saves.

In the second half Parker took a pass from Emma Savoy and lofted it into the net for a 3-0 lead.

Tori Tenney’s burst up the sideline set up Parker’s third goal of the game

Parker set up two more goals in the the second half, one to Jazmyn Vautour and another to Savoy.
