Mason Barrieau went over 1,000-yards rushing as the Athol football team beat Smith Vocational, 46-14, Friday in non-tournament action in Athol.

Barrieau finished with 130 yards with a 51-yard touchdown rush.

Riley Paine had a 10-yard touchdown reception from Caleb Cox for Athol.

Dylan Castine, Keegan Lutz and Will Kitzmiller all had rushing touchdowns for the Red Raiders.

Kitzmiller’s went for 60 yards.

Mahar 16, Mohawk 8 — The Senators scored two second-half touchdowns, both on runs by Jon Gariepy, as they rallied for the win in Buckland.

Gariepy finished with 87 yards on 23 carries, including touchdown scampers of 5 yards and 15 yards to help rally the Senators (2-7) from an 8-0 halftime deficit.

With 9 minutes remaining in the third, the Senators embarked on a 16-play, 90-yard drive to tie the game. Gariepy picked up a crucial fourth down on the drive then scored from 5 yards out to cut the Mohawk lead to 8-6. Mahar converted the 2-point conversion on a quarterback sneak by Noaha Chabot to tie the score.

Mohawk botched the ensuing kick return and the Senators recovered on the Mohawk 48-yard line. The Senators drive appeared to stall after a false start penalty, but Chabot hit Lucas Seney in the flat on a fourth-and-10 for 24 yards to give Senators a new set of downs. After a second false start penalty, Seney rumbled up the middle for 5 yards and on the next play Gariepy scored from 15 yards out putting Mahar up 14-8. Gariepy then took the conversion try around the left side of the line to give the Senators the 16-8 lead.
