ATHOL – Athol Savings Bank (ASB) will donate $23,000 for its Annual contribution to United Way of North Central Massachusetts (UWNCM). For the past eighteen years, the Bank has made significant donations to support the non-profit organization whose mission is to create a lasting positive change in local communities.

UWNCM serves 22 communities and the Bank’s contribution is earmarked for the Community Impact Fund serving the Greater Gardner and Athol Region.

The Community Impact Fund supports over 40 programs and initiatives. The initiatives are focused on health, education and financial stability. Health initiative provides basic needs (food, shelter, and heating assistance) and supports preventing domestic violence through education, prevention and response services. The Education initiative includes United Way Youth Venture, Early Literacy Innovation Zone of North Central Massachusetts and other Youth Development programming; helping children and youth achieve their potential. The Financial Stability initiative provides funding to support programs to families who are struggling to make ends meet and to provide educational opportunities to help people find and sustain better paying jobs.

In addition to its contribution as a mutual savings bank, ASB employees are encouraged to volunteer and participate in a company-wide campaign to help the UWNCM serve our local region.

“Athol Savings Bank remains a dedicated and long-term supporter of local initiatives which help individuals, families, and communities reach their full potential,” said Debra Vescovi, Athol Savings Bank SVP Real Estate Lending/Compliance/CRA Officer.

UWNCM provides a wide variety of local support to the residents of our communities. “As a local, community bank we are pleased to help.” said Daniel J. Zona, President & CEO of Athol Savings Bank.

ASB’s donation to United Way of North Central Massachusetts will help fuel its mission to create opportunities for a better life in the Greater Gardner and Athol areas, which includes the towns of Ashburnham, Athol, Gardner, Hubbardston, Petersham, Royalston, Templeton, Westminster and Winchendon.
