Running in her first race for the Mahar girls indoor track and field team, Carra Fitzgerald broke a school record at Smith College in Northampton.

Fitzgerald’s 2-mile run in 12 minutes, 44.33 seconds was good enough for second place on Friday night. She was behind Pope Francis runner Meghan Sullivan (12:40.32) by about four seconds.

The seventh-grader also got second in the 1,000-meter run (3:29.71).

The Senators (2-1, 1-1 Valley North) beat Hampshire Regional 57.5-37.5 and Ludlow 54-41, but lost to Pope Francis 54-41.

Caroline Chase placed first in the 600 (1:52.24). Anna Wetherbee was right behind her in second (1:55.36) overall.

Kamryn Reilly ran a quick 55-meter dash for second (7.96). Reilly had another second-place finish in the high jump (4 feet, 9 inches).

The 4×200 relay team of Reilly, Jordyn Berry, Carissa Johnson and Chase placed second (2:05.56).

Chloe Taddeo took home a first in the shot put (29-1) for the Senators.

The Mahar boys team (0-3, 0-2 Valley North) lost to Pope Francis 80-13, Ludlow 73-21 and Hampshire 60-26.

In the 2-mile, Liam O’Donnell was first for the Senators (10:43.23).

Cameron Doyle placed third in the 600 (1:52.91).
