Chris Waslaske picked up a win for the Athol wrestling team, but the Red Raiders lost to Hampshire Regional, 48-36, in Westhampton on Wednesday.

“Overall it feels like a growing process,” Athol coach Brandon Jeffrey said. “Even the ones that lost are showing steady signs of improvement.”

Waslaske has beaten every opponent in his path at this point in the season. Waslaske won by fall in 2 minutes, 34 seconds against a very strong wrestler in Hampshire’s Kobe Clifford at 182 pounds.

“He (Waslaske) is exactly where we want him to be,” Jeffrey said. “He is wrestling close to perfect.”

Hicks’ counter put Constantine on his back in a headlock, leading to win by fall at 56 seconds.

The Red Raiders forfeited two weight classes.

On the other side, Hampshire forfeited the heavyweight classes, giving wins to Thomas Seamans at 220 pounds and William Braccini at 285 pounds.
