Mason Barrieau once against had an impressive performance in a sprinting event, this time at the Holiday Challenge in Boston on Friday.
Barrieau was eighth (1 minute, 25.97 seconds) among 63 competitors in the 600-meter run at the Reggie Lewis Center.
The run qualified Barrieau for the Division 5 state championships.
Dennis St. Jean just missed qualifying for states, but placed 26th (2:47.18) out of 68 runners for the Red Raiders in the 1,000. The time was a personal record for St. Jean.
The Mahar indoor track team also sent competitors to the Holiday Challenge, where Kamryn Reilly placed 38th (7.99) out of 64 runners in the 55 dash.
The Senators got a strong showing in the jumping events.
Reilly was tied for fourth in the high jump (4 feet, 11 inches). Jordan Berry placed tied for 12th (4-7) for the Senators in the high jump.
In the long jump, Anna Wetherbee placed 11th (15-6.75) out of 36 competitors.
