ORANGE — Rene J. Maillet, 59, of Orange, died Friday, January 11, at UMass Medical Center.
Rene was born February 6, 1959, son of the late Gerard and Teresa Maillet. He attended Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School. Rene worked for Fitchburg State University for over 20 years before his retirement. Rene was passionate about the outdoors. He trekked across the Appalachian Trail in 2014, and loved fishing, hiking, and camping.
He leaves his son, Ryan P. Maillet of NY; one sister, Cheryl Moriarty and her husband, Ed of CA; nephews, Jeremy Duhaime, his fiance, Veronica, and their son, Travis, Kevin Maillet II, his wife, Annie, and their children, Sebastian, Scarlett, and Phoenix; brother-in-law Ronald Dupuis. Rene was predeceased by his twin, Lisa Marie Dupuis, and two brothers, Carlton Maillet and Kevin Maillet.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 18, at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, School St., Athol. Burial will be private. To send an online condolence, please visit www.mackfamilyfh.com.
