The Mahar girls indoor track team beat Greenfield, 55-39, in PVIAC indoor track & field action Friday in Northampton.

Kamryn Reilly took first against Greenfield in the 55-meter dash (7.76) and the long jump (16 feet)

Reilly’s time in the 55-meter was third overall among the field of high schools competing at Smith College. 

Distance runner Çarra Fitzgerald won two events for Mahar.

Fitzgerald was first (3:29.21) in the 1000-meter run and the mile (5:45.15).

Anna Wetherbee won the 300-meter dash (46.89) for the Senators while Chloe Taddeo was tops in the shot put (28-11.00).

Greenfield 80, Mahar 13 – Liam O’Donnell took first place in the 1000-meter run (3:05.01) in a loss for the Senators.

Ludlow 61, Athol 30; South Hadley 77, Athol 14 – The Red Raider girls indoor track team lost a pair, but Rashelly Dalmua-Gonzalez qualified for the PVIAC championships with her performance in the shot put.

Dalmua-Gonzalez’s throw was good enough for first place (29-04.50) against Ludlow. 

Grace Dufour took first (46.77) against Ludlow in the 300-meter dash and the long jump (14-04.25) for the Red Raiders (2-4-1).

Kassidy Swan also beat Ludlow, placing first in the mile (6:27.75)

Another first place finish against Ludlow came from Sadey Lehtomaki in the 55-meter dash (8.44).

Ludlow 46, Athol 44; South Hadley 55, Athol 38 – Dennis St. Jean took first place in the mile (5:02.07) against the Lions, but the Red Raiders (5-2) lost twice at Smith College.

St. Jean’s time qualified him for the PVIAC championships.

St. Jean added another first place (2:53.34) over Ludlow in the 1000-meter run.

Mason Barrieau swept first against the Lions and the Tigers in the 600-meter run (1:30.16) and the long jump (19-05.25).

Barrieau also finished first against South Hadley (9.02) in the 55-meter hurdles.

Wrestling

Chris Waslaske just missed out on the 182 pound championship for the Athol wrestling team at the Burt Burger tournament in Chicopee on Saturday.

Waslaske lost a 2-1 overtime decision to Taconic’s Dylan Burke. 

Joey Gray also got a second place finish for the Red Raiders at 160 pounds.

Michael Harris picked up his first varsity win for the Red Reaiders at 220 pounds. 

John Hicks took fourth place at 195 pounds.
