Two days after improving her school record in the 2-mile run, Carra Fitzgerald obliterated it for the Mahar girls indoor track team at the Coaches Invitational in Boston on Sunday.

The seventh-grader placed seventh (12 minutes, 1.90 seconds) out of 32 runners at the invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The run bested her previous record by about 17 seconds.

Kamryn Reilly finished 18th (7.81) in the 55-meter dash and tied for 27th (4 feet, 8 inches) in the high jump for the Senators.

Anna Wetherbee was tied for 23rd in the long jump for Mahar.

Athol boys indoor track — Mason Barrieau ran in the 300 for the Red Raiders and ran a season best, which was good enough for 15th (37.50), Sunday at the invitational.

Barrieau was also 22nd (18-10.5) in the long jump.

Dennis St. Jean ran in the 1,000 and placed 22nd (2:46.25). The time was a personal best for St. Jean and it qualified him for the Division 5 state championship.
