ORANGE — Tori Tenney had only three points, but it was everything else she did that made a difference in the Mahar girls basketball team’s 62-21 win over Easthampton on Thursday night.

The lack of scoring did not stop Tenney from controlling the game for the Senators.

Whether it was a rebound in traffic, jumping a passing lane or setting up a teammate Tenney was there.

“Being in the book is only part of the game,” Tenney said. “Getting the ball to people is just as important. And keeping everyone level-headed.”

There were moments of tension between the teams, especially in the second quarter when a lot of bodies were hitting the floor.

“They were pretty aggressive and we started to give in to that,” Tenney said. “But we were in control and we stopped talking back and let the refs do there job.”

Tenney had 10 rebounds, eight steals and five assists for Mahar (9-6). The Senators are one win away from a Division 3 playoff berth.

“We are so capable of winning these types of games,” Tenney said. “But we just need to finish the simple things: layups, jump shots and foul shots. Once we do that I think we are going to be unstoppable. But until then we need to keep working hard.”

The Senators had lost two in a row going into the game with the Eagles (3-10).

“All 11 of them contributed,” Mahar coach Larry Fisher said. “We got a three-game home streak and we really need to pick them up. This was a nice win to get to start it off.”

Micalyn Mailloux started getting out in the open floor in the third quarter when she scored nine of her 19 points for the Senators.

Mailloux did well drawing contact on drives, and went 7-for-12 from the free-throw line.

Delaney Parker scored all of her 10 points in the second half with two 3-pointers.

Courtney Page (eight points) and Jazmyn Vautour (10 points) added to the rebounding totals with 10 each.

Mahar played mostly man-to-man and made nearly every shot difficult for Easthampton.

Mahar led 47-14 after the third quarter.

Val Murphy had six points for the Eagles.

Pioneer Regional 59, Athol 50 — Both Haley Bigwood (17 points) and Geca Baptista (12) were in double-figures but the Red Raiders lost to the Panthers at home.

Rozlyn Nelson added seven points for Athol (3-11).

Olivia Rowe had 24 points for Pioneer.
