8:35 a.m. — Medical call, East River Street.

9:51 a.m. — Caller reports last night his wife received a call from a very belligerent male who claimed  he had her daughter and he was going to start cutting off her fingers unless she met up with him. He continued  to swear and made threats to go to her house and kill her. Caller knew it was a scam as her daughter was fine. Caller ID showed an international number. Officer put out a broadcast to other police departments. Braintree police responded with a similar call.

1o:09 a.m. — Medial emergency, East River Street.

11:16 a.m. — Traffic stop, East River Street and Hayden Street for speeding. Verbal warning issued.

1:20 p.m. — Alarm for activated Lifeline, Columbia Avenue.

2:13 p.m. — East River Street, male requesting to speak with an officer via telephone. Officer returned call and line was busy with no messaging system.

3:08 p.m. — Report of larceny, East River Street. Party reports his son was removed from his home in November and he did not get the key back. About three weeks later he noticed he was missing some jewelry and $8,000 in cash. He suspects his son stole everything but doesn’t want him to get in trouble. Wanted on record.

3:47 p.m. —  Medical emergency, Red Brook Lane.

4:38 p.m. — Traffic stop, East River Street for speeding. Verbal warning.

5:12 p.m. — Traffic stop for speeding, East River Street. Verbal warning.

5:24 p.m. — Party on East River Street reports that she has a possible rabid skunk in her back yard. Skunk was located on property and appeared to be ill.

6:33 p.m. — Traffic stop, East Main Street for defective equipment (headlight out). Verbal warning.

6:54 p.m. — Traffic stop for speeding, Brookside Road. Verbal warning.

7:08 p.m. — Traffic stop, East Main Street for an illegal left turn out of the Walmart parking lot. Operator given a verbal warning.

7:30 p.m. — Traffic stop for speeding, Daniel Shays Highway. Verbal warning.

8:04 p.m. — Traffic stop for speeding, East River Street. Verbal warning.

8:19 p.m. — Caller was questioning why police are always parked in front of Mike’s Place. Advised that speed enforcement is being done due to complaints and that most of the time officers are on the town owned side and not across the street.

8:20 p.m. — Traffic stop on New Athol Road for not having headlights on and a suspended license. Registered owner was not the operator. Verbal warning given.

8:51 p.m. — Disturbance, Prentiss Street. Caller said man has been verbally abusive towards her. He smashed her phone and attempted to push her. Spoke with both parties involved. Situation was mediated.

8:54 p.m. — Walmart requested an officer regarding a detained shoplifter. Issued a criminal complaint against a male and a female. Both parties to be summoned to court. 

11:27 p.m. — Suspicious vehicle, West Main Street in the back of a building. Registered operator has office in the building.

11:32 p.m. —  Officer stopped vehicle on Daniel Shays Highway for multiple civil violations. The stop yielded a large quantity of narcotics. Demitrius White of Elm Street, Greenfield, was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, 36 grams or more, less than 100 grams, with possession to distribute Class B drug, possession to distribute Class A drug, failure to wear seatbelt, and possession of open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

11:53 p.m. — Medical emergency, Old South Road.

4:41 a.m. — Suspicious activity, Dexter Street. Caller states a car alarm has been going off in the area for about five minutes. Nothing suspicious in the area. Most likely the alarm going off at the Dexter Street school.

5:41 a.m. — Officer wanted, East Main Street. Party reports that she is outside of building and can hear the upstairs neighbors yelling and believes that they could be intoxicated. Spoke to subjects in apartment who were having a disagreement and stated they would quiet down.

7:48 a.m. — Spoke with caller, East River Street, who explained how a new company has purchased the apartment complex and they will be going into the apartments this week to do some work and have asked the tenants to leave while the work is being done. Party is upset that they have been asked to leave and was advised of options by the officer.

8:51 a.m. —Spoke with party, East River Street, who has received some threatening messages and would like to get a restraining order against a party who resides in Athol. Caller decided to apply for emergency 209A at the station. Order granted by on call judge and served by Athol PD.

9:33 a.m. — Glenwood Avenue caller looking to set up an escort to pick up his property per a 209A. 

9:48 a.m. — Medical emergency, New Athol Road.

10:58 a.m. — Officer wanted, Jones Street. Officer was approached by a motorist who was concerned about people holding up signs and cars were stopping to talk to them. On arrival, spoke with two subjects who were getting ready to leave. 

2:06 p.m. — Welfare check, Perry Road.  Male subject lying down on the ice on Lake Rohunta. Spoke with person who was taking a nap.

3:06 p.m. — Medical emergency, East Main Street.

3:32 p.m. — Welfare check, Lake Rohunta. Report of a kid wearing a black jacket out on the ice near the open water part with no one else around. Athol dispatched also advised. Spoke to two parties in their 30s who were ice fishing (with licenses) and would be wrapping things up shortly.

3:40 p.m. — Motor vehicle accident, no injuries, East River Street. Party said she noticed that her front bumper appeared to have been hit. Damage to vehicle appeared that operator accidentally hit a snowbank. The bottom and underside of the bumper was scratched and cracked. Provided information on how to get it repaired.

4:24 p.m. — Traffic stop on New Athol Road for operating with an expired registration. Registration was renewed on roadside. Verbal warning given.

Saturday, March 2

5:39 p.m. — Traffic stop for speeding, East River Street. Warning/citation issued.

7:18 p.m. — Traffic stop, Daniel Shays Highway. Citation issued to operator for speeding.

8:05 p.m. — Loose dog, East Main Street. Party reports there is a brindle colored Bullmastiff type dog running loose with a collar but they couldn’t catch it. Animal control advised. Negative contact with the dog.

8:40 p.m. — Traffic stop for speeding, East River Street. No impairment. Verbal warning given. Verbal warning given to rear passenger for seat belt violation.

9:55 p.m. — Traffic stop for red light violation, East Main Street. Verbal warning.

10:04 p.m. — Traffic stop on East Main Street for defective equipment (passenger side headlight). Operator found to have suspended license and was issued a citation. Vehicle was taken by party with active license.

12:08 a.m. — Welfare check, Red Brook Lane. Athol PD received 911 call routed to them. Caller advised that she woke up and her bed was shaking. Athol PD advised that she sounded out of it. Officers spoke to the female party, all was fine.

12:27 a.m. — Vehicle operator given a verbal warning for inspection status, East River Street.

6:12 a.m. — 911 hangup, Tully Road. On call back, spoke to the family party who states she was trying to dial overseas and must have accidentally hit the 9. 

1:09 p.m. — Suspicious person, Bliss Hill Road, Warwick. Party reported that she ran across a male subject that had a rifle in his hands and was attempting to unload his muzzle loader and driving a Toyota. Said that subject was located about 200 feet up form the Tully Road/Athol Road intersection.

1:24 p.m. — Smoke investigation, New Athol Road.  There is a permitted burn at distribution center.

1:43 p.m. — Medical emergency, New Athol Road.

5:30 p.m. — Suspicious vehicle, Dexter Street. Vehicle has been parked at the school all weekend and has front end damage. The registered owner’s kids go to the school and the motor vehicle may be from the Department of Motor Vehicles.

7:04 p.m. — Traffic stop for speeding and defective equipment, East Main Street. Verbal warning given for both violations.

7:05 p.m. — Traffic stop on East River Street for speeding. Operator given verbal warning.

7:40 p.m. — Traffic stop for no plate lights, East Main Street. Verbal warning.

7:57 p.m. — Officer wanted, Daniel Shays Highway for  a male party sitting in a red pickup truck in the middle of the parking lot yelling. Spoke with operator, no signs of impairment. Was advised to park his truck in a parking space and stay in for the night.
