PHILLIPSTON — Town Clerk Karin Foley has announced nomination papers are now available for the annual town election, which will be held Monday, May 20. Polls at the town hall, 50 on the Common, will be open from noon to 8 p.m.
Nine seats are on the ballot to be filled.
Three-year positions include: board of selectmen (presently held by John Telepciak), board of assessors (presently held by Reginald Haughton), board of health and cemetery commission (both seats presently held by Garrett Foley), constable (presently held by Richard Valcourt), library trustee (presently held by Daniel Sanden), school committee-Phillipston seat (presently held by Jeffery Marques), and one open school committee-Templeton seat. There is also a 5-year term on the planning board to be filled, which is presently held by Wayne Richard.
Nomination papers are available from the town clerk. March 28 is the last day to take out nomination papers for any of the seats. Papers must be returned to the Registrars/Town Clerk’s office by April 2.
The last day for registrars to file with the town clerk is April 11.
The last day to withdraw nomination papers is April 20.
The last day to register to vote will be May 1.
The warrant for the election will be posted by May 13.
The Annual Town Meeting is scheduled for May 8 at 7 p.m. in the Phillipston Memorial School gym. The last day to register to vote at the town meeting will be April 18.
Foley said the date of the Annual Town Meeting was changed to align with that of the town of Templeton. The two towns share a school committee.
