ROYALSTON — Paul Killinger from the Laboratory of Medical Zoology at UMass Amherst will present a talk on Lyme Disease and myriad of other diseases transmitted by ticks and the results of their research on tick testing. The presentation will be held on Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the Royalston Town Hall, 13 On the Common.
Killinger will provide practical information and discuss the stages of tick development, prevalence, and distribution. The non-profit laboratory sponsors TickReport™, “send a tick to college,” a professional tick testing service to identify tick species and life stage and to detect the presence of tick-borne pathogens. They are thus able to provide a unique surveillance record for the distribution and spread of tick-borne diseases. Bring questions and gather information to be better informed about one of the most prevalent infective agents in our midst. This program is co-sponsored by The Friends of the Phinehas S. Newton Library and The Agricultural Committee of Royalston. Light refreshments will be served.
