ATHOL — Every year, Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust celebrates Earth Day by organizing volunteer days out on the land and encouraging community members to get involved in outdoor activities.

On Friday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m, join Mount Grace staff and volunteers at Skyfields Arboretum, 1461 Old Keene Rd. Mount Grace encourages everyone to participate in stewardship activities including trail maintenance, removing invasive plants, painting sign posts, installing bird boxes, and placing interpretive signage on the trails. The celebration will continue on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Alderbrook Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary on Route 63 in Northfield, to install interpretive signage, build parking signs, and get the wheelchair-accessible trail ready to welcome visitors for the warm summer months.

KimLynn Nguyen, Land Stewardship Coordinator, states, “We encourage everyone to get out on the land with us, have fun, and make a difference on Earth Day weekend”

Earth Day is recognized globally as day of civic participation to steward and protect the environment. Mount Grace is also seeking donations to mark the day and enable the nonprofit to keep protecting significant farms, woodlands, and natural areas across North Central and Western Massachusetts to benefit the environment, the economy, and future generations.
