The outdoor track and field season is finally getting going for Western Massachusetts teams.

Athletes from Athol High School and Mahar Regional will have a shot at postseason glory after qualifying for the WMass championships in multiple events.

For the Red Raiders girls (0-3, 0-2 Intercounty), Grace Dufour will compete for a WMass title in the 200-meter.

Newcomer to track and field Geca Baptista qualified in the javelin.

Continuing her strong run from the outdoor season, Rashelly Dalmau-Gonzalez qualified for shot put.

For the Red Raiders boys’ (0-2, 0-2), Mason Barrieau qualified in the triple jump.

Barrieau has a spot in the WMass championships, as well as the Divisional State championship meet in the 200-meter.

Distance runner and Assumption College commit Dennis St. Jean qualified in the 800-meter run for Athol.

For the Mahar Regional girls team Kamryn Reilly (100, long jump), Delaney Parker (100, 200, long jump), Carra Fitzgerald (800, mile), Sienna Moore (100 hurdles, triple jump, pole vault), Chloe Taddeo (discus, shot put, javelin) and Anna Wetherbee (triple, pole vault, 400) are all qualified in multiple events.

Jazmyn Vautour (javelin) and Grace Rich (long jump) are also qualified.

The Senators are undefeated (3-0, 1-0) and in first place in the Intercounty League.

For the Mahar boys (2-1, 2-1) team Riley Drew qualified in the 200-meter while Henry Gilmore is set for postseason competition in the 400. 

Drew also qualified in the triple jump. Luke Melanson qualified in the high jump.

Justin DeDiego will compete in the 400 hurdles.

Relay teams qualified for the Senators include the 4×100 (girls and boys), the 4×400 (girls) and the 4×800 (girls).
