Tiffany Tenney closed out her collegiate career with Springfield College with an Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III championship on May 16th in New Haven, Conn.
The Mahar Regional graduate claimed her ECAC title in the 400-meter dash.
“I was hoping to run a 56 and break the school record,” Tenney said. “I came close. I ran my best.”
Her time (57.69) was a full second ahead of second place finisher Briana Artist of Wesley College.
The time was her best ever during her career at Springfield.
“It’s been such an awesome season,” Tenney said. “The NEWMAC championship with my team was my favorite memory. I had a great year.”
Tenney graduated on Sunday with a degree in health science with a concentration in clinical medicine.
The next step is applying to graduate school to become a physician’s assistant.
Several current Mahar and Athol athletes are destined for collegiate athletics.
Balancing academics and sports at the next level can be challenging.
“I would say that after graduating and reflecting on my career that I would say just set high goals for yourself,” Tenney said.
Kenzie Tenney plays soccer at Fitchburg State, while current Mahar senior Tori Tenney will attend Mount Holyoke.
