Liz Dolby and Elaine Goodhind tied for first in the Patty Berg Flight after each shot a 40, in the the Ladies 9 Hole League at the Country Club of Greenfield, Tuesday. 

Margo Worden’s score of 45 gave her first in the Nancy Lopez Flight. Ann McHugh took second with a 46. 

In the Lorena Ochoa Flight, Linda Lively took first with a 45, followed by Gail Miller in second with a 47. 

Janet Andrews narrowly won the Juli Inkster Flight, finishing with a score of 50. Sally Bernard and Jean Laczynski trailed closely behind, finishing with a 51. 

Ann Corrinet was the top scorer in the Joanna Carner Flight, finishing with a 48. Barbara Laczynski and Elaine Mount settled for second, both finishing with a score of 51. 

Emily Simmons was the top finisher in the Annika Sorenstam Flight with a 57, followed by Carole Akey who shot a 59. 

• Elsewhere at the Country Club of Greenfield Tuesday, Dolby had the top gross score of 83 in a Four Club and Putters game in the A-Flight of the 18 Hole Women’s League. 

Worden had the top net score of 64. 

In the B-Flight, McHugh had the top gross score of 95 while Miller had the top net score of 63.

Race to End Child Abuse 5K

Calling all superheroes! Many children can’t run from abuse, we dare you to move, get involved, make an impact, and change your community for the better. The 3rd annual Race to End Child Abuse 5K Run/Walk sponsored by the Children’s Advocacy Center will be Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds.

New this year, there will also be a free one-half mile race for kids. Registration and pre-registration pick up opens at 8 a.m. on race day, with the one-half mile race set for an 8:40 a.m. start. The 5K begins at 9 a.m.

Youth Soccer

Greenfield Rec

The Greenfield Recreation Department is offering youth soccer programs for Grades K-6 this fall.  The deadline to register is Friday, Aug. 30. A $5 late fee will be assessed for all late registrations.

Pee wee soccer is for boys and girls grades K-2. This small field 3-vs-3 soccer program introduces passing, dribbling and shooting skills with weekly instruction and scrimmage, taking place Saturdays, Sep. 7 through Oct. 19 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Green River Swimming Area. Players must wear shin guards, sneakers or soccer shoes (no cleats). The fee is $30 for residents, $35 for non-residents.

Travel Soccer Jr. Division is for grades 3-4 and Sr. Division is for grades 5-6. Each division builds on passing, dribbling, and shooting skills. Practices will be held one night a week with games on Saturday.  The practice and game schedule will be announced at a later time. It runs on Saturdays, Sep. 7 through Oct. 19. from 9-10:15 a.m. Teams travel to surrounding towns including Montague, Erving, Northfield, Vernon, Gill etc. Players must wear shin guards and mouth guards; cleats are not required.  The fee is $45 for residents, $50 for non-residents.
