ATHOL – Athol Hospital’s efforts to provide top patient care and convenience continued with the Friday, Sept. 6 demolition of the former Medical Arts Building to make room for Emergency Department parking, and the new Starrett Center for Emergency Care now in full swing.
According to Dawn Casavant, Vice President of Development, the demolition of the medical office building behind the hospital is expected to be completed by Wednesday, Sept. 11. Additional security will be on staff to provide parking assistance and alleviate any potential confusion.
Casavant said that although services are up and running, “we are still working hard to close our fundraising gap.” The hospital is $324,659 from reaching its $3 million goal and gifts or pledges are still being accepted.
Casavant said all of the providers within the old building were relocated. Those who were part of the Heywood Medical Group are currently in the Hillis Building in Athol Primary Care or Specialty Practice. Jang Singh, MD (Cardiology) sees patients in the Memorial Building part of the hospital as does Stefan Karos, MD (Urology). A behavioral health clinician was also relocated to the Hillis building.
The following have offices in Athol Primary Care: Mareni Cruz, MD, Olha Duda, MD, Marina Konomi, PA, and Lauren Gibbons, PA.
The Specialty Practice office includes Peter Gibson, MD (Cardiology), Craig Napolitano, MD (Cardiology), Thomas Duzendorfer, MD (Gastrointestinal), Tom Scalfarotto, DO (General Surgery), Jonathan Grogins, MD (OB/GYN), and Liezl Irisary, MD (OB/GYN).For more information or questions, contact Dawn Casavant at 978-630-6431, or email dawn.casavant@heywood.org.
