ATHOL — A public flu clinic will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 9-11 a.m. in the Athol Senior Center, 82 Freedom St. The clinic is sponsored by Walgreens Pharmacy and the Athol Council on Aging Vaccination is recommended for:

■All persons age 50 years and older.

■Women who will be pregnant during the influenza season.

■Persons who have chronic pulmonary (including asthma), cardiovascular(Except hypertension), renal, hepatic, cognitive, neurologic/neuromuscular, hematological or metabolic disorders (including diabetes mellitus).

■Persons who have immunosupression (including immunosupression caused by medications or by human immunodeficiency virus).

■Health-care personnel.

■Household contacts and caregivers of children younger than age 5 years and adults 50 years and older, with particular emphasis on vaccinating contacts of children less than 6 months.

■Household contacts and caregivers of persons with medical conditions that put them at higher risk.

Pre-registration is required by calling the Council on Aging at 978-249-8986.

Bring all health insurance cards to the clinic.

Flu vaccinations are available only to adults age 18 and older.
