On Oct. 11, the U.S. Postal Service will issue four first class rate forever stamps depicting “spooky scenes” viewed through various window frames. The scenes will feature a cat and raven, two ghosts, a spider and web, and three bats.

These self-adhesives will be issued in panes of 20 stamps, with Milford, NH as the official first day city.

A sports card and coin show will be held on Oct. 13 at the Boys and Girls Club of Chicopee, at 580 Meadow St. in that town. Hours are 9a.m. to 2 p.m., with free off-street parking, but a small admission charge that benefits the club. Door prizes are drawn every hour.

A coin show will be held Oct. 13 at the Auburn-Webster Elks Lodge on Route 12 in Auburn. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with free admission and off-street parking.

An important point to remember about attending shows is that customers should not show up sometime during the last hour of the show, and expect to see all of the dealers fully set up. If a show is listed as ending at 2 p.m., some dealers begin packing up around 12:30 p.m., especially if they have had good sales.

Some dealers are Patriots football fans, and leave a show early to get home to watch the game. Therefore, a smart customer tries to get to a show within an hour or two of its opening time of they want to see the most variety of dealer offerings.
