PHILLIPSTON — The 40th Annual Pumpkin Weigh-In and Country Village Fair will be held at The Red Apple Farm on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be free parking, parking for the handicapped and no admission charge. The Giant Pumpkin Weigh-In will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Anyone may enter the contest by bringing their pumpkins over to the registration table between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday. There is no registration fee. Cash prizes will be awarded along with ribbons in two divisions, Adult (over 18 years) and Children (18 years and under). A special Luther Award will be awarded for the smallest pumpkin.

This event is the oldest continuous Pumpkin Weigh-In in New England with a search for the largest pumpkin.

The Pumpkin Weigh-In, is being hosted by the Phillipston Agricultural Commission. There will be a pie contest. Pies for judging must be labeled with ingredients, name and phone number and taped to the bottom of the pie plate.

There will also be displays of home canned goods, home grown vegetables and flower arrangements for judging. For more information, call 413-992-7066.

A church service, open to all, will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 on the deck of the Brewery Barn.

The Village Fair will offer Cotton Candy (near the ice cream barn). There will be two wood raffles (one for a ton of pellets donated by a church member and the other being a pickup truck load of cordwood donated by Green Natural Resource Management).

The ladies of the church will hold their annual Quilt Raffle, “A Light in the Window” donated by a Phillipston resident. The drawings for the wood and quilt raffles will be on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. The quilt will be on display and raffle tickets will be available to purchase. This beautiful quilt you must see! Make sure to purchase your tickets for the Wood and Quilt raffles at the fair. A coffee can auction will many wonderful items with be available each day as well as clothing (slightly used) for a great price.
