TEMPLETON — The appointment of Adam Lamontagne to the post of Assistant Town Administrator was announced at the selectmen’s meeting Oct. 9 as part of the town’s succession plan to replace retiring Town Administrator Carter Terenzini.
For the past year, Lamontagne has served as the Town’s Municipal Management Fellow as he worked toward this new title. In that role, he has staffed the effort to bring the cannabis industry to Templeton, contributed to drafting Fiscal Year 2020 budget, and successfully handled a number of collective bargaining issues.
Michael Currie, Chairman of the Selectboard, said “We are most pleased with the work Adam has done for us this past year and look forward to his continuing development as we approach the decision point of him becoming our next Town Administrator firmly entrenched in the purpose and goal of this board.”
Prior to his selection as Municipal Management Fellow, Lamontagne was elected to three terms on the Chicopee School Committee and later was elected to two terms as a Chicopee City Councilor. He has volunteered service which include the Conservation Commission and Mobile Home Rent Control Board in the City of Chicopee and a member of the Edward Bellamy Memorial Association. Lamontagne earned his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Westfield State University and his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the same institution.
