ATHOL — The rain had just started when the downtown Preschool Halloween Stroll began at 10 a.m. Thursday, but it wasn’t enough to stop the young superheroes, princesses, dinosaurs, skeletons, lion, the Grinch and other characters from venturing into participating businesses for candy treats.
Some of the accompanying adults caught the Halloween spirit by also dressing in costume and seemed to be having just as much of a good time as their little ones.
At one point, there was a backup of costumed trick-or-treaters in the doorway of Quabbin Valley Dental. It is unknown whether appointment cards were distributed along with the candy.
Trick-Or-Treating in Athol, Orange, and Royalston was rescheduled to Saturday from 5 to 7:30 p.m.; the Petersham Lions Club party at the town hall and activities were rescheduled to Saturday. The Halloween parade begins at 5:55 p.m. and Trick-Or-Treating ends at 7:30 p.m.
