ATHOL – The winners of the 2019 Pumpkin Decorating Contest sponsored by the Athol Public Library have been announced. The contest was to encourage children to get into the fall spirit by decorating a pumpkin as a favorite book character. Winners out of four contestants were chosen based on votes cast by library patrons.

Melia Hopkins won the grand prize of two tickets to Athol Cinemas for “Pinkalicious.” A Walmart gift card was given to second place winner Keira McCorquodale for “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” and Jay McCorquodale won the third place prize of “a bag of wonderful goodies,” for “The Rainbow Fish.”

Contestant Levi Hopkins made a monkey out of a pumpkin that was easily recognizable as “Curious George” from the popular book series.
