WORCESTER — The Assumption College Student Government Association (SGA) has announced that Jillian Geyster of Phillipston has been elected to and is serving as Senator of the Class of 2020 during the 2019-20 academic year.
The Student Government Association is the governing student body on campus, representing all undergraduate students. The purpose of SGA is to advocate for students and give voice to their opinions to enhance students’ experience and encourage their participation in extracurricular activities. Their work is guided by a constitution and by-laws.
“We have an enthusiastic group of officers this year that is completely dedicated to building upon the success of the past year to enhance the student experience at Assumption,” said Colin McQuillan, SGA President for the 2019-20 academic year. “As a group, we are consistently working on addressing important issues facing students on campus as well as planning events of interest to students that will complement classroom instruction and maintain the vibrant campus life at Assumption.”
SGA is comprised of students elected from each class who are responsible for fundraising, planning events and ultimately their class’s Senior Week. Executive officer positions include: president, vice president for financial affairs, vice president for student affairs, vice president for academic affairs, and senate speaker.
