ATHOL – Business owner Joseph Gochinski said Wednesday that he is “guardedly optimistic” about a  “near future” opening of the new Atlantic Brewers & Distillers located at 105 Marble St.

The former Plotkin Furniture warehouse has been undergoing renovations for the past 18 months for a brewery that is composed of six 1,000 square foot sections. The taproom and brewery are located on the first floor of the building. Gochinski said the basic interior has been completed and that they are “still chipping away details.” A cement ramp will soon be added to the front steps using a compound that works for smaller projects in colder conditions.

Gochinski said he is pleased with the new sidewalks and pavement replaced by the the town during the major construction project of Marble Street the past summer. He said, “things are looking good.”
